Growing Invisible – Paperback

Available to Order now.

A collection of short stories about 5 mature women (a polite way of saying over 50), the events and decisions made which affect their lives forever. Stories of love, hate, loss, dark humour, and murder. For some invisibility suits them very well, others refuse to fade into the background.

Matters of the Heart: Joan, desperate to stop history repeating itself.

Love by any other name: Sally is living with secrets from her past.

Missed Call: Dottie’s dear friend is not the man she thought he was.

Climate Warrior: Beth is looking for a purpose in retirement.

Spiritual Awakening: Serenity, coping with bereavement and life in her own unique way.

Each story is complemented by touching poems written about life’s experiences, good, bad and sad.

    1. An absolute incredible read. Honestly, just started working and decided I have a moment to just pick up this book and have a read of a couple of poems.
They were amazing really well written. Then I got to the first short story. Wow the incredible atmosphere you’re brought into is absolutely incredible. And what an incredible twist I didn’t see coming.
I’m not going to say much more because I wouldn’t want to give anything away but end result, I carried on and read the whole book through my shift haha. A must buy and read book filled with an incredible collection of poems and short stories of unexpected events. 5 star plus. Love it xx

  5. Hi Stefanie – I received your package early this morning! Thank you for writing your book. I read the whole thing – there is a lot to take in, so much life, emotion, shocking events and dark humour. As a grower I loved ‘Missed Call’! Your wonderful short stories made me think about how strong women need to be in their response to everything life throws at them.

    1. Thank you Kath I am so glad you enjoyed. Older women so often get overlooked, hence the title, but they all have a rich history.

This collection was enjoyed in a single sitting, but there is much to reflect on at leisure. Each female-led story is told with heart, empathy and gentle humour, with a dark twist or two along the way, as we are transported to the moments responsible for scarring and shaping the lives of five different women. Interspersed with a selection of companion poems, the concept of “growing invisible” is explored in a variety of ways, culminating in the emotional punch of its moving finale, “I See You,” which could not provide a more perfect way to end.

    1. Thank you so much Allie. I am so glad enjoyed it and that it made you think about older women. I hope as each generation ages, “invisibility” will be less of an issue for women. 🙏
