Hello,
Thank you for visiting my website, let me tell you a bit about myself. I was born in Luton where I lived with my 6 brothers, mum and stepdad. My brothers always had some hairbrained scheme that usually ended in us getting into trouble.
I left home at 19 to start nurse training, which was a real adventure. I saw some awful things but mostly I saw love, compassion and kindness from both staff and patients. Eventually I decided to specialise in heart disease. I worked for a large national heart charity travelling around the country I have met many interesting characters and heard some fascinating stories.
Since then I have been a volunteer coordinator at a stately home, a receptionist, lecturer, and admin assistant, giving me some interesting perspectives to use in my writing.
I have always been curious about the world and have spent a lot of time studying to gain qualifications and improve my knowledge. I gained a degree in my 40’s and a teaching diploma in my 50’s, It really is true you are never too old to learn.
I enjoy pub quizzes, long walks, cooking, visiting historic sites which always have interesting stories attached to them, and of course writing stories and poetry. I am married to Duncan, we have 2 adult children and 4 grandchildren, we are lucky enough to live on the North Norfolk coast.
I love spending time with my family, my daughter lives close by so I see a lot of her children. My son and his family live over a 100 miles away but we Facetime a lot and see them when we can, they are a huge support to me, giving me advice on my writing and listening to my (sometimes) crazy ideas.
