Mini Saga Stories
The challenge of these type of stories is to write exactly 50 words no more or less. The following are 2 I wrote as part of a writing group. We were given titles and had to create the story from that. King for the day was inspired by a memory of my son. When I was working as a community nurse a lot of older people kept their medication in sweet tins, thus the inspiration for Toffee tin.
King for a day:
Daniel stood tall and proud, he thought, “this is the moment I’ve been waiting for.” Attendants placed the cloak on his shoulders while the important man, dressed in robes, stepped forward, placing the crown on his head. Cameras flashed, the music commenced, as his classmates danced around the may pole.
The Toffee Tin:
The woman handed the tin to her mother. “I remember these, your favourites, you were always eating them when we were kids.”
“I remember,” her mother smiled, “My addiction your father called it, I still drool over them.” She opened the tin and begrudgingly took out her medication, cursing the toffees.
