A New Ring

I wrote this poem after I lost a stone from my engagement ring and the jeweller couldn’t repair it as it was so worn.  My husband bought me a new engagement ring to replace it.  It is the same 3 ring configuration but a much sturdier setting.

A New Ring

Out with the old
In with the new
The broken and twisted replaced.

A gift affirming love
Celebrating a long marriage
Commemorating the highs and lows.

Three sparkling white stones
Bright and shiny gold,
Linking all in a beautiful bed.

Sitting atop the gold band
As if they have been friends forever,
Old love, Forever love, true love together.
